Dance in France
by Editors Mar 19, 2008

Dance Kaleidoscope will present dances inspired by France in The French Connection March 20-23.

DK is one of the few companies allowed to perform the works of French choreographer Pascal Rioult, artistic director of his own New York-based company and a former soloist for the Martha Graham Company. “Wien” (German translation of “Vienna”) will make its Indiana premiere in The French Connection. Former DK dancer Eric Yow, now with Rioult’s Dance Company, returned to Indianapolis to set the choreography for DK.

“The Tangled Web” by guest choreographer Cynthia Pratt from Butler University will make its world premiere in the program. The music of French avant-garde composer Yann Tiersen sets the stage for an exploration of secret lives and relationships.

The French Connection is recommended for mature audiences. Performances are at the Indiana Repertory Theatre, 140 W. Washington St., March 20, 7 p.m.; March 21-22, 8 p.m.; and March 23, 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $20-$36 and are available at the IRT ticket office (317-635-5252) or at www.irtlive.com. A one-hour “family friendly” Mini-Matinee will be held Thursday at noon for just $6. More on DK can be found at www.dancekal.org.
