Fish wrap
by Letter to the Editor Mar 26, 2008

Your column in NUVO regarding The Indianapolis Star is dead nuts right on (Hammer, “Yes, Indy Does Matter,” March 12-19)! I have been saying this for a while.

I moved here in 1979, and the morning paper was something to look forward to. Although not always in agreement with the opinions written, at least it was a quality paper that had competent people for each position, and even had spell-check and grammar-check, which is obviously lacking today. Being a sports fan, I looked forward to reading Robin Miller, and even liked reading Bill Benner — they wrote with facts and disregarded public sentiment to make a valid statement. Now, we have Bob Kravitz — no explanation necessary!!

The paper today appears to be a USA Today wannabe — it is a generic run-of-the-mill paper that has truly lived up to the term “fish wrap”!!

I enjoyed your article in NUVO, and am in 100 percent agreement with you. And, as per your last sentence, I’m not holding my breath!
