Humane Society changes
by Letter to the Editor Mar 19, 2008
Although I like the fact that the HS is now having people make an appointment and do “counselling” before just dropping off a pet, I don’t think that will help that much (News, “Humane Society Makes Changes,” March 5-12). The bigger problem is the fact that too many people abandon their responsibilities and too many animals aren’t spayed/neutered, which only makes the problem continuous. All animals have feelings and a soul and they do know when their surroundings have changed. The fact is there are just too many unwanted animals for Indiana to house. Changing the way people feel about owning a pet is the only way we can put a dent in the overpopulation problem. Education is the key, and starting it at an early age makes it more of a success.
