I Am Legend
by Ed Johnson-Ott Mar 19, 2008

Two and a half stars (PG-13)

Richard Matheson’s 1954 novel about Robert Neville (Will Smith), the last human survivor of a plague that has turned the populace into savage creatures, was scary as all get out. This version goes with the book for a while, then makes a radical turn in a different direction. Not bad for what it is, but it could have been so much better if they just followed the damn story all the way through. Aargh! 100 minutes. DVD INFO: Both single and two-disc editions of the film are available, in both widescreen and full-screen, so shop carefully. The two-disc special edition includes the original version of the movie and an alternate version with a different ending, four animated comics, featurettes and DVD-ROM materials.
