• The Music Mill announced last week that concerts at the Northside venue are now open to ages 18 and up. In order to accommodate those that aren’t yet of drinking age, the Mill enclosed their existing bars in eight-foot walls, and will stamp the hands of those that would like to make use of those bars. The first concert open to 18+ music fans was the Martin Sexton show on Jan. 19.

• The Vogue will host Living Proof and 40% Steve in the latest installment of Friday Night Live, a series featuring local bands that was launched at the beginning of the year. Last week’s show featured The Franchize and Dark House Sweet (and is reviewed by Paul Pogue elsewhere in this section). There’s a $5 cover for this week’s show, which begins at 10 p.m.

• On Wednesday, Jan. 23, Concerts for Kindness will present national Christian recording artists Sarah Bauer and Frank Bradford at Christ the Savior Lutheran Church (10500 E. 126th St., Fishers). The concert begins at 7 p.m., and the admission price is a pair of new white cotton socks, which will be donated to a homeless person.

• On Saturday, Jan. 26, Spencer’s Stadium Tavern (802 S. West St.) will celebrate its two-year anniversary with a performance by alt-country rocker Justin Townes Earle, son of Steve Earle and namesake of Townes Van Zandt. The cover is $5 for the 9 p.m. show.

• On Sunday, January 27, Indy blues greats will gather for a benefit concert at Mugshots (6525 N. College Ave.) to help Sheena Rachell, granddaughter of blues mandolin great Yank Rachell. All proceeds from the concert will go to Sheena, who was diagnosed with Wegener’s granulomatosis.

Musicians scheduled to perform include Allen Statyner, Dwight Edwards, Harvey Cook, J.B. Deville, Mario Joven, Steve Brown, Steve Robbins, Karen & The Beast, the Circle City Blues Band and many more. The concert begins at 3 p.m. For more information contact Mike Butler 317-846-9610 or mrbmando@sbcglobal.net.
