Spinning the news
by Letter to the Editor Jan 9, 2008

On Dec. 20, I read a news story that said that the U.S. GDP increased at an annual rate of 4.9 percent in the third quarter 2007. The next day I read that “Consumer Spending Surges in November by Largest Amount in 3 1/2 Years.” I also saw that week that NUVO was running a poll asking, “Do you think the U.S. economy is in a recession now?” When I looked at the results in the Dec. 27 NUVO, I saw that 64 percent answered “YES”!

I want to thank you for providing such a wonderful illustration of how effective the Democrats and their echoes in the media are at spinning the news to their political advantage.

Michael, When did the Republicans become the party of conspiracy theorists? Also, I noticed you didn't reference where you got your reliable information. Would you mind sharing?
