The Jan. 30-Feb. 6 issue of NUVO gave me three good chuckles in just three pages.

1) NUVO celebrated the defeat of "Senate Bill 003 Conscious Clause Bill" for pharmacists. I could be wrong, but I would think that most patients would prefer that their pharmacists be awake while dispensing their prescriptions.

2) NUVO gave Mayor Ballard a "THUMBSDOWN" for disregarding Randall Tobias' past use of an escort service when appointing him to an executive position with the Indianapolis Airport Authority. In this same issue, I counted 15 advertisements for escort services in NUVO. If Mr. Ballard were not a (GASP!) Republican, I am confident that no one at NUVO would disagree with his contention that the escort service story was "damn near irrelevant to the position." (If, however, the new airport is to have an escort service, Mr. Tobias should probably recuse himself from the awarding of such a concession.)

3) NUVO gave a "THUMBSUP" to those organizing "Super Refund Saturday" for providing free income tax preparation and noted that those participating should "bring a valid picture ID," et al. But wait! I thought that the good people at NUVO considered the mandatory presentation of a "valid picture ID" to be an abomination and an unconscionable assault upon civil liberties! Perhaps that applies only to voting.
