Thumbs up: Walking the walk
by Editors Jul 23, 2008

Keep Indianapolis Beautiful’s new headquarters at 1029 Fletcher Ave. is under consideration for certification from the U.S. Green Building Council, a form of national recognition that acknowledges buildings that are environmentally sound, make economic sense and provide a healthy place for workers. The new building uses a cistern to collect rainwater, wind turbines to produce 10 percent of its electricity, a white roof to reduce cooling costs and rain gardens to minimize stormwater run-off. KIB figures that its up-front investment in green technologies will make it more productive, efficient and thrifty.
