Thumbsdown: What's an election worth
by Editors Mar 12, 2008
Seems Republican Chairman Tom John is the new sheriff in town. Yesterday he heaped scorn on County Clerk Beth White, alleging that thousands of ballots for Tuesday’s special election were missing. “It is imperative that we locate and recover these ballots as soon as possible,” declared John, doing his best Dirty Harry impersonation. He sounded like he was gathering a posse as he added, “I am asking all of the citizens of Marion County to step up and help locate these ballots and avoid the risk that this election could be stolen by anyone.” To sweeten the pot, er, underscore the importance of the situation, John offered a reward for information leading to the recovery of the ballots … a whopping $100!
