By making herself a subject of her own photography, Brooklyn-based Davis challenges a social norm that mostly values photos of obese people as "before" pictures on "The Biggest Loser" and the like. When taken together, her self-portraits form a narrative tinged with loneliness and eroticism. But in her series of photographs of men, something else is going on; you can see her lens dissolve the distance between herself and her subjects. Davis is a photographer on the cutting edge in terms of her process -- digitally scanning her most recent film photography -- as well as subject matter, overcoming her insecurities about body image to deliver an impressive body of work. Through July 25. --Dan Grossman
