Three and a half stars (NR)
Enjoyable low-key documentary series from filmmaker Brett Morgan (The Kid Stays in the Picture) that travels to rural Watersmeet, Mich., to follow the local high school basketball team, the Nimrods, focusing on the coach, several players and other assorted locals. Don’t look for the kind of hyped-up drama you see on reality shows — this is simply a laid-back slice-of-life documentary about small town life. Inspired by an ESPN commercial focusing on unusual sports team names. 232 minutes. DVD INFO: No information available on extras, but hopefully we’ll find out what the fallout was when the parents of some of the boys heard the language they used while hanging out together.
