Nilaja Sun in 'No Child …"Nilaja Sun brings her comedic, one-woman tour de force No Child ... to the Madame Walker Theatre March 1 at 6 p.m. “I created this piece to be a snapshot from the trenches, something entertaining and provocative that’ll get people talking about the state of our public schools in a new way,” says Sun, who, over 70 minutes, plays a dozen characters, ranging from a deer-in-the-headlights English teacher to a girl who wears too much bling to get through her school’s metal detector.
The show addresses the No Child Left Behind educational act that actually hampers a child getting a proper education, as well as issues within the public school system itself.
A Broadway hit, No Child ... tickets are $25 and may be purchased at the Walker box office, 617 Indiana Ave., or by calling 317-236-2099. Visit www.walkertheatre.com for more information.
